Class Completion and Recognition

The Leadership Course offered through the Haleyville Area Chamber of Commerce came to completion Friday, June 5th with highlights of the 8 week course, and plaques of recognition to participants. The group is planning a project to "Engage Leaders in Better Communities." More Information will be available as these leaders continue to work together for the 2010 course and class project.

Guest speaker Kasey Kearce, Executive Director of United Way of Cullman County explained the relationship to Winston County when it comes to providing much needed assistance to families in need. United Way provides, shelter, food, health and safety, working closely with the American Red Cross. |

As part of the presentation, Leah Costello Victim Services of Cullman is the administrative body for Harbor House and the Rape Crisis Center. Leah stated clearly, "No one wants to admit it is happening." Rape and sexual assaults are on the rise and may victims find their way to Cullman County as a means of Support at a time when most needed. Leah will be leading a course on Monday, June 15 - 8:00 AM at the E.F. Walker Building. This is a free course, for more information you may call 256.775.2600.
