The mission of the Haleyville Public Library is to provide the residents of Haleyville, and Winston and Walker counties which are served by the Carl Elliott Regional Library system, with access to materials, and services for educational, informational, and recreational use. The library supports, to the best of its ability, the educational, civic, and cultural activities of Haleyville, Alabama.

The 12,000+ library collection is comprised of books, large print books, magazines, newspapers, dvds, books on tape and CD; genealogical and local history materials; and 71 online databases. Also available to patrons are 6,000+ downloadable eBooks and audiobooks through the Camellia Net Library Consortium. The library's annual circulation of material is over 17,000.

Library services provided include circulation of library materials, broadband and wireless internet, public access computers, interlibrary loan services, reference services, photocopy services, displays, talking book service for the blind/physically handicapped, children's storyhour programs, children's summer reading programs, and adult programming.

The library's Alabama Room houses the local history and genealogical  departments, with an emphasis on Winston County. The Haleyville Public Library, also, offers access to the Heritage Quest genealogical database through the Carl Elliott Regional Library System.

The Haleyville Public Library is funded through a combination of funds and services provided by the City of Haleyville, the Carl Elliott Regional Library System, the Alabama Public Library Service, the Library Services and Technology Act, and generous local donations.
